Manchester City will be looking to bounce back with a big win in the Champions League after they were beaten by Bayern Munich.

City were completely outplayed by the German league leaders in Munich and this is the first chance they have to react positively to the result. With only one point to show from their two games so far a victory at the Etihad is vitally important for Roberto Mancini and his side, and after battering Aston Villa on the weekend there is no reason why the Citizens shouldn’t take the three points tonight.

Villarreal can be a very dangerous team in this game because they have nothing to lose and they always play good football, but Juan Carlos Garrido’s side are currently struggling badly, with no wins in their last four and with Brazilian ace Nilmar still out with a knee injury much will depend on the midfield duo of Giuseppe Rossi and Cani going forward.

The ‘Yellow Submarines’ have always been one of the underrated Spanish sides yet they have consistently qualified for Europe’s top competition, and depsite their recent form the price of 10/1 for the away win should not be underestimated.

City will be on the hunt for an early goal because they have started nearly every game this season in the same way. They know that if they can bag the first goal in the early stages of the match then the Villarreal defence could open up, and with one time Liverpool target Mateo Musacchio missing the game in the centre of defence, the flood gates could open.

City to win the match 4-0 is 16/1 with Bet365 which looks like value.

Villarreal will probably have to sit back for large spells and rely on their defensive organisation before they counter attack. If they try and take the game to City then they risk leaving big holes at the back for their opponents to exploit, but they do have some quality going forward, and in Cani they possess a player who can make things happen.

Villarreal to win the match 2-1 is 25s with a few bookies.

The star of Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Aston Villa, Mario Balotelli is suspended for this game so much will depend on Sergio Aguero and David Silva, who look the best bets to score the first goal for Manchester City.

Both players have been in fine form this season and both have been getting into the best attacking positions around the pitch. Aguero in particular has been prolific since he joined the club in the summer and he should have plenty of chances, and at 4/1 could be worth backing.

The action kicks off at the Etihad at 19:45.
