Kallis says England will miss KP

South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis believes that Kevin Pietersen will be missed by England in the upcoming Test match at Lords.

England must of course win this encounter if they are to keep their number one in the world status, any other result and it is the South Africans that would take the accolade.

Pietersen has been left out of the squad despite being man of the match in the last match at Headingly. This is due to him refusing to dismiss reports that he had sent text messages to members of the South Africa squad criticising his teammates.

Jonny Bairstow is the man who will replace Pietersen and it is a second chance for his to prove himself at Test level. The Yorkshire player scored a century for the England Lions last week so has certainly found some form.

However, Kallis believes that the Three Lions will miss one of their star men, he said: “He’s a world-class player and he’s proven that over many years and put in big performances for England so I’m sure he’s going to be missed, but England’s got some good players as well

“I’m sure they’ll sort it out. He’s too good a player to stay out of the international scene. I’ve no doubts they’ll come to an agreement and something will be sorted out”

After 88 Test’s for the world number one side, Pietersen is certainly full of experience and is a veteran in this format of the game.

The controversy looming over him though was too much for the selectors and they feel as though he needed to be left out of the squad.

We shall soon see if this decision was the right one. The main thing for England is that they win the Test match and this is certainly not the ideal preparation.

The action gets underway from Lords on Thursday.
