The winning line-up of 2006 has largely survived and they should not really be truly tested until the last 16 at the earliest. New Zealand are playing in only their second World Cup but are rank outsiders to progress any further, and would surely be satisfied to run any of their opponents close.
Slovakia are in their first finals and that lack of experience could be the greatest obstacle to them getting through, although they have absolutely nothing to lose and possess a player in Marek Hamsik who could make a real name for himself in South Africa.
Paraguay are favourites to join the Azzurri in the last 16.
